In absolute terms, Bank Nifty posts biggest weekly gains in 10 years. The Sensex was up 39.49 points at 24646.48, and the Nifty was up 9.75 points at 7485.35. About 1516 shares have advanced, 1087 shares declined, and 145 shares are unchanged. 
 
BHEL, SBI, Coal India, Tata Motors and Cipla were top gainers while Sun Pharma, Wipro, Maruti, L&T and Reliance were losers in the Sensex.

Nifty Bank recovered more than 300 points from day's low as all banks stocks were in green. SBI (up over 3 percent) and HDFC Bank (up over 1 percent) rebounded. ICICI Bank extended upside, rising 2.5 percent.

Tata Motors expects CV sales to grow 25% this fiscal


Tata Motors is hopeful of closing this financial year with a 25 percent growth in commercial vehicle sales and continuing the run next year as well on replacement demand to meet new emission norms and a pick-up in the economy.

The company expects to close the hybrid bus order from BMC "any day now", having already signed an agreement with the authorities.

Nifty hits 7500 at opening, Sensex firm; ICICI, BHEL gainers

 
After a bumper rally, the market has opened on a strong note Friday. The Sensex is up 71.36 points or 0.3 percent at 24678.35, and the Nifty up 29.80 points or 0.4 percent at 7505.40. About 385 shares have advanced, 110 shares declined, and 30 shares are unchanged.


ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, ONGC, L&T and BHEL are top gainers in the Sensex while GAIL, Adani Ports, Sun Pharma, Maruti and Hero are major losers. 

The Indian rupee gained further in the early trade . It opened higher by 11 paise at 67.23 per dollar versus previous close 67.34.

Equity Market Closing News: Nifty shuts above 7350

The NSE Nifty closed with a gain of 147 points at 7,369. The NSE Nifty opened at 7,322 hitting a high of 7,380 and low of 7,308. The broader market out-performed the BSE headline index. The Midcap closed higher by over 1.8 percent at 10,052 and the Smallcap index has jumped 2.2 percent to 10,073.


The benchmark BSE Sensex continued its post-Budget rally for the second straight day and surged over 2 per cent to get past the 24,000-mark on Wednesday.

Finally BSE Sensex ended with a gain of 464 points at 24,243. The BSE Sensex opened at 24,045 touched an intra-day high of 24,280 and low of 24,044.

SBI, ICICI Bank, PNB, Hindalco, BoB, Adani Ports, Tech Mahindra and Yes Bank were among the gainers on NSE, whereas M&M, Sun Pharma, ITC, Coal India and BPCL were among the losers today.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 1.55% at 10,018, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 1.58% at 10,012.

S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 24,080 up 301 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,312 up 90 points.

SBI, BHEL, ICICI Bank, Adani Ports, Hero MotoCorp, Axis Bank and Tata Steel are among the gainers, whereas M&M, Coal India, Wipro and TCS are losing sheen on BSE.

Some buying activity is seen in banking, finance, industrial, telecom, realty, oil and gas and auto sectors on BSE.
 
The INDIA VIX is down 2.71% at 18.16. Out of 1,763 stocks traded on the NSE, 208 declined, 1,291 advanced and 374 remained unchanged today.

A total of seven stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while ten stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.

The Indian rupee opened higher by 12 paise at 67.74/$ on Wednesday as against previous close of 67.86/$.

ITC becomes third most valued Company; surpasses Infosys, HDFC Bank

Shares of ITC ended 10% higher to Rs 325.10 with market valuation stood at Rs 2,61,403.46 crore.

ITC has surpassed Infosys and HDFC Bank to emerge as the third most valuable company in terms of market valuation, according to reports.

Report says that the market capitalisation of Infosys stands at Rs 2,58,291.43 crore and HDFC Bank’s at Rs 2,48,946.98 crore.
 
TCS retained market- cap position with a market cap of Rs. 4,48,272.36 crore.

The NSE Nifty closed with a loss of 43 points at 6,987. The NSE Nifty opened at 7,050 hitting a high of 7,095 and low of 6,825. The losses in IT, capital goods, consumer durables, oil and gas, power and telecom counters weighed on the index.

 

Finally BSE Sensex ended with a loss of 152 points at 23,002 . The BSE Sensex opened at 23,239, touched an intra-day high of 23,343 and low of 22,495.


The broader market traded in line with benchmark indices with the BSE midcap and BSE smallcap indices closed on a mixed note.

SBI stock was up by 3% at Rs. 160. The bank has received shareholders approval to raise up to Rs. 15,000 crore by public issue or overseas issuance of shares.

The market has opened in green but quickly slips into red on crucial Budget day. The Sensex is up 67.00 points or 0.3 percent at 23221.30, and the Nifty is up 20.70 points or 0.3 percent at 7050.45. About 304 shares have advanced, 95 shares declined, and 43 shares are unchanged.

Coal India, SBI, ONGC, Axis Bank, GAIL are top gainers while Cipla, ITC, BHEL, Lupin and Asian Ports are losers in the Sensex.

As Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presents Union Budget today, the market will focus on credibility of numbers. Investors will be keen to know if the govt deviates from the fiscal consolidation roadmap in order to boost growth. The other big fear the market has is the possible extension of the long term capital gains tax tenure from 1 to 3 years or the possibility of reintroduction of a tax itself.

The Indian rupee opened lower by 9 paise at 68.69 per dollar on Monday versus 68.60 Friday.
